Volunteers for OSC-KN Regens actively contribute to the overall well-being of our community by:
☯️Protecting and restoring biodiversity while also promoting cultural exchange and greater understanding of landscape and community.
🌎Learning about local ecosystems and what actions can be taken to help mitigate the effects and harms done to the environment.
🏞️Creating vibrant and thriving biodiverse landscapes for both humans and wildlife.
How to become/renew my participation as a OSC-KN Regens Volunteer:
All new volunteers are required to complete our Volunteer Intake Form.
A KN Regens coordinator will reach out to you via the email you provided in the Intake Form with more details (including forms offered in Step 3).
All volunteers must also complete the following forms and either email them to us or bring them with you to the first session:
All Ages: All volunteers must complete and sign: Volunteer Waiver
Ages 15-17: Can volunteer without their Parent or Guardian and their Parent or Guardian must complete and sign Parent/Guardian Consent Form
Ages 14 and under: Must be accompanied by a Parent or Guardian who is also a volunteer.
✅Please note that volunteers do not need to be knowledgeable about ecology or how to work with plants / gardening tools. Volunteers do not need to be residents of Kanata North. OSC-KN Regens is happy to sign-off on volunteer hours for high school students.
OSC-KN Regens Volunteer Guidelines:
To invite healthy self-managing behaviour as a community of volunteers, KN Regens offers the following guidelines:
We work not for profit or for personal gain, but to restore our ecological environment so that it may be preserved and enjoyed for generations to come.
We aim to create an environment of reciprocity. Each individual is invited to engage in whatever manner allows them to be in a reciprocal relationship with the natural world. Activities can include planting native; removing invasive plants; as well as learning, sharing, and being in community.
We are an inclusive community and welcome all abilities and disabilities (visible or invisible); all ages; all genders; as well as all other identities that shape you.
Being an inclusive community invites each of us to accept responsibility for our words, feelings, and actions at all times. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. Be kind to nature.
