A little more about us...
As a community-led project of the Ottawa Stewardship Council, we work to:
Build partnerships with other organizations to achieve the community's vision for greenspace;
Create thriving and vibrant native wildflower and meadow habitat, that enriches local biodiversity, benefits native pollinating species, limits invasive and noxious weeds, and helps improve the health and quality of life for people;
Foster social cohesion by working together with others to restore and regenerate ecosystems, while engaging and encouraging the community to participate in those efforts.
As a learning community, we aim to create a safe and welcoming environment that supports diverse cultures and knowledge sharing. We sow seeds of diversity, literally and figuratively:
We respect, encourage, embrace and defend, diversity of thought, of people, and of ability, within our group, our community and our city;
We work not for profit or for personal gain, but to restore our ecological environment so that it may be preserved and enjoyed for generations to come.
While our team’s on the ground restoration efforts take place in the Morgan’s Grant Hydro Corridor, we know it is only part of Kanata North’s important greenspace network, and other greenspaces in Ottawa. We embrace a collaborative framework. We are proud to be partnering with a network of people and organizations working together to make a difference.

Plant establishment - structure and composition
Change over time

Habitat use
We support evidence-based education and collaboration with other pollinator action teams...
History
Our volunteer group was formed in the summer of 2023.
We build on the stewardship work of the BMGCA and OSC in the Morgan’s Grant Hydro Corridor that began in 2016:
The Your Community Voice article below and Kanata Networker outline our beginnings.
"Regeneration brings vitality and renewed growth to our communities and to our ecosystems. It puts life and connection at the centre of every decision we make."

Other Supporters and Collaborators:
Join us - It's great to cultivate life with your own two hands!
KN Regens welcome all volunteers aged 15 and up (parent/guardian consent needed if under 18). There are no residency requirements.
Younger volunteers accompanied by a parent/guardian participant are also invited.
No experience necessary. We all learn together while we engage in work-play. We find joy in the work, and joy in the progress.
Help make a difference in a safe & inclusive space, where you'll be welcomed, supported, and valued.
Native plant propagation volunteers are also welcome to join us to grow seedlings for restoration projects. It's easy to grow these wonderful plants.

Studies show that diversity of culture, and diversity of thought, promote innovation and help us be better problem solvers:
Inclusivity means making sure everyone feels welcome, valued, and respected, no matter who they are or where they come from:
